A Family... Rich in Culture and Love

I had the honor of photographing this beautiful extended family just before Christmas. It's so wonderful to see people who make "togetherness" a priority at Christmas time, and who want to capture those memories forever in a photograph. With such a beautiful family and a lovely home, the images couldn't have been better. William, Deborah, Luly and Ani, I hope you and your parents and children enjoyed our time together as much as I did, and enjoy your images even more. Here are only a few:

My Three Muses

It's December. We only have 6 days left before Christmas, but I couldn't stop taking pictures. I am officially "closed" for the holidays, but one of my favorite subjects just turned 6 months old so I had to make an exception. His older brother and sister are adorable and couldn't let their new baby have all the fun, so they joined in as well. The home was small, but has a sweet spot for light right in the dining area. I of course moved out all the chairs and table (as I've done before for many clients) and proceeded with the session. I wont go into the chaos that ensues when the photographer tries to photograph her own children. I'll just say there was a moment where I turned around to find my other two on top of my kitchen table (which was in the living area) and turning lights on and off.

My caboose! Doesn't he have a cute one!

My little man, still in a diaper, but no longer a baby. (He's not two just yet)

The sweet face that reignited my love for photography. She's only 3 but looks so big now.

This one is just to prove that usually photographer's children are the hardest to photograph. (Mostly cause they've seen all your "tricks" a million times before)

The Tame Ones

Amanda has been a client of mine since the very beginning. I had the privilege of photographing her first pregnancy and was absolutely honored that she called me to photograph her blooming belly once again. We had lots of fun, and even took some that I'm sure only a handful of people will see (maybe not even that many) :P. I enjoyed our most recent session just a teensie bit more than all the others; mostly because, well, it was fun to change things up a bit.

Seeing Double

I've known these two handsome babes since before they were born. This was the first time I was able to photograph just the two of them. We had a blast! I'm afraid we completely tore up the house, but we sure had fun doing it. :D Mom was a great sport!

Double the curiosity

Double the muscles

Double the trouble (heartbreakers in the making)

Musical Family

This mom told me once that she plays practically every instrument her husband doesn't. They literally are a family of musicians. Their 3 year old has been playing the drums since he could sit up. They were so much fun to photograph and the boys did surprisingly well. I guess bribing them with the opportunity to play the drum at the end worked to our advantage. :D

Hey... what are you two doing?

Another Bun

I met this expectant momma almost 2 years ago when she was given a gift certificate for the birth of her younger son. I've since photographed her growing family a number of times. Needless to say, I was so excited when she called to schedule a maternity session. Can you guess what she's having this time around? Congrats Vicki!

One Fun Four-Year-Old

Mason was so much fun to photograph. As long as I didn't ask him to look at the camera or smile we did great. I made the mistake of asking him to look at me and smile and I got the cheesiest grin ever. We both enjoyed talking about The Cat in the Hat, doing an ABC puzzle, he told me all about this giant painting he did, that his mother proudly displays in her dining area, and then his mother let him break a cardinal rule... he was able to jump and play on her neatly made bed. I was so glad to see him enjoying a special day of special things, and it was so worth it! We got some great images!

One Happy Baby!

Cecily was such a joy to work with. By the end of her session her mother and I were literally laughing at her, laughing at herself. Cecily is not only beautiful but hilarious to boot. She's so funny she cracks herself up!

The Pirate and His Ladybug

This time last year, I believe I was editing the maternity session I did of Jen when she was pregnant with little Madison here. Who would have guessed that little bundle would have turned into such a busy little girl. Caleb has grown so much taller since then, and is not still by any means. These two kept me, and both their parents running, but I had a great time. Here's a glimpse of my recent sword fighting pirate, and his busy ladybug of a sister.

Muscle-bound Cowboys

These handsome young men were full of energy, and yet so willing to stop just long enough for me to snap a few shots. Just the way I like all my subjects. We had a ball! Thanks Mandy for bringing me your boys... after two rain-outs, I think I can say it was totally worth the wait!

Showing off their huge muscles....

Demonstrating how well he can sit up now....

Fun Family of Five

These guys are full of personality. I really enjoyed photographing them last week. We really got some great images for their Christmas cards, but in effort to preserve the element of surprise for those who know these fabulous people, I refrained from posting any of those images here. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that when photographing the individual twins, I didn't get all individuals of the same twin. ;) Ha! Hopefully mom and dad can tell, cause I sure cant!

Jam Packed

Thank you all so much for the overwhelming response to my portfolio building special. I now have had the pleasure of photographing 2 sweet babies, and one beautiful new mother. In case you're interested, Amy, had a little baby boy whom she named Harrison. I'm so excited to have 3 more babies, and 2 more maternities on my schedule. If you add these in with my normal Holiday Sessions, I'm one busy woman. As of right now I have no room for any more portfolio building sessions. I hope you'll consider scheduling a Holiday session soon, if you haven't already. I'm booking up fast!

Doll Face

This week I had the pleasure of photographing one of the happiest and cutest baby girls I know. This should be no suprise since her mother is just as sweet and beautiful. We had so much fun dressing up baby Reagan and putting her in all kinds of fun places in their home. She was a great sport and the perfect model.

Mama Again!

I spent the afternoon with Amy, who is expecting her fourth child, last week. Doesn't she look great!? She was so fun and willing to try anything. I really enjoyed the opportunity to experiment with new poses and am excited about how her images turned out. Here's a sneak peak at her session.

Four Month Old Tate

This little man was so much fun to photograph. He was so happy and smilie and loved to eat his toes. What more could a photographer ask for, except maybe some beautiful hardwood floors and a beautiful mom. Oh wait... he had that too! Here's a sneak peek at his session.

Out with the Old; In with the New

It's finally here! My new website is up and running. Please take a minute to check it out. I'm so proud! I had so much fun putting it together and even learned some HTML along the way. It's going to be so much easier to update than my old site. If you take the time to look around, you'll probably see images of people you know. ;) Please don't hesitate to comment or contact me and let me know what you think, good or bad.

While uploading images for my new site, I noticed that some of my galleries were lacking in numbers. I started thinking of what I could do to fill them up. Then I figured, why not just ask, and offer an incentive of course. So, here's the deal. If you're expecting and still feel comfortable in your skin, or if you have an infant 3-12 months of age, I want to photograph you. If you're willing to give me an hour or so of your time, I'll wave the sitting fee. You'll be under no obligation to purchase prints, but if you fall in love with your images and want to put them on your walls, I'll offer them at 15% off. This offer may not be used with any other discounts and all sessions must be scheduled before Jan. 1, 2008.

Christmas Comes Early

Here they are! I've finally finished creating 5 different card templates for you to choose from when ordering Fine Art Christmas Cards. Each of these are simply the beginning. When you order these cards for your family, you will be able to choose the image(s) displayed, the greeting on the front of the card, as well as the message within. The colors will be customized as well.

Remember if you decide to go with the 4x8 photo cards, these are designed especially for you from scratch. I will send you three samples to choose from that include your desired greeting or message. Feel free to view some designs I created for clients from previous years on my website.

Something New Everyday.... Right?

I really do think we learn something new everyday. Though somedays the new information is more helpful or useful than others. Today I learned that people weren't able to post comments on my blog. A sweet friend emailed me and said she'd tried to, but couldn't. After doing a little searching, I realized I had a setting on my blog selected incorrectly. I've now set it so that anyone can post a comment on my blog. I apologize for the inconvenience and for all fairness will reinstate the contest from my previous post, in this one. As of 8/9/07 at 10:00 a.m. anyone who comments on THIS post will receive the prize below.

Special offer only for blog followers: The first person who comments this post will receive a complimentary box of folded fine art 5x7s ($70.00 value) upon the completion of their holiday session. (Session must be scheduled and session fee received by 8/31/07 and must occur before 11/21/07)

Too Hot for the Holidays!

It may be a sweltering 95 degrees outside and you feel like you're wearing the air, but believe it or not I've been in front of the computer thinking about Christmas. I've learned over the last few years, that it pays to think ahead in photography. We only have three and a half months until Thanksgiving. That may seem like an eternity to you, but to me, it means only time for 20 holiday sessions. The fall is one of my busiest times of year, so I want to be prepared. I've been busy creating sample cards for you to choose from if you decide to purchase a box of my fine art 5x7s. Below are a few of the fine art 5x7 cards I've created. All cards come with envelopes, their color schemes are matched to the image or images you choose, and the folded cards can be created with a message of your choosing, or left blank. Please visit my website for pricing details and to view samples of some custom photo cards I created for clients last year.

Back To Work

I'm so excited to be working again. I really do miss getting out with my camera and getting to know my clients better. I'm also excited to be sending out my 2nd quarterly newsletter. Hopefully many of you have already received it and are here checking out my new blog.

I've been busy preparing myself for the busy holiday season. You may want to start considering your options for this year. I'll only be accepting a limited number of sessions so if you would like to schedule a session, be sure and book early. Holiday sessions will take place through November 21st. Any sessions scheduled after the Thanksgiving weekend will not be delivered until after the Christmas holidays. Check back soon for samples of this years choices for holiday cards.

On a personal note, my family and I recently returned from a trip to Houston. While we were there I tried to photograph my own children just doing what children do, and not to try to make a "session" out of everything. Here are some pictures of the two "big kids" playing in the back yard after the rain and a cool lookin' dragonfly. Enjoy!
