I just couldn't wait...
I had the opportunity to photograph baby Emma yesterday morning, and well... as soon as I had a quiet moment I started looking through these images. To be honest, I was a little worried going into this session simply because she is 3 weeks old.
The perfect age for a newborn shoot is 2 weeks or younger. Why? Because they still sleep all the time, they still curl into all those bendy positions and they're still new and fresh.
About halfway through the shoot I asked Emma's mommy if she'd come early and she said yes, 3 weeks early! Well no wonder this shoot was going so well! I was stunned that this little 3 week old was still so bendy and sleepy. Hellooo! She was supposed to be born this week!
I cannot even tell you what a fun session this was. Emma was the perfect little model, letting me position her, place her and manipulate her with barely a peep, and she only pooped on her mommy once!
Oh and I simply HAVE to give kudos to big brother who was a champ at climbing onto his mommy and daddy's bed very sneaky sneaky like. His baby sister didn't even stir once when he laid next to her. Way to go Mason!

Something a little Different
Some of you may know, my daughter turned four a couple of weeks ago. Today she and I went out, just the two of us, to do a shoot. I wanted to try something a little different. I chose her clothes, and we compromised on her hair. :) I really wanted to do little loopy pigtails so they'd be more sassy, she wanted it down. We agreed on regular pigtails.
This idea isn't completely original, another photog I know did a commercial shoot for a sassy closthing line, in a similar location. I just LOVED the idea and decided to give it a try!
Feel free to let me know what you think, and if you ever think you'd like to do something like this, just give me a call! I'd love to try this again!

'08 Holiday Cards
Here are just a few of the holiday cards I'll be offering this year. These will all look fabulous printed on fine art paper. I'll be back with some samples for photo paper within the next few weeks, but I've been thinking and creating these all year. What do you think?

The birth of the Mini Session
Last year during the holiday season, I had some clients ask if I do Mini Sessions. You know, those short 20 minute session where your whole goal is to get a couple shots for Christmas cards or gifts. Well, at the time, I didn't, simply because it didn't seem feasible for an 'on-location' photographer to do something like this.
Over the last year I gave it some more thought, and then found the perfect spot. See the trick is to find a location that will work both in the morning and in the evening as well as be centrally located and easy to find. I wanted to think of something a little different as well. EVERYONE does the Arboretum, and I didn't want to do that again. Well, a couple weeks ago in the shower (where I do my best thinking) it hit me!
We have some gorgeous old homes and bed and breakfasts around town with beautiful grounds. So I drove by a couple of my favorites, and lo and behold, the grounds of The Hardeman House were lovely and shaded both in the morning and in the evening. Perfect! Then, I contacted the owners , Craig and Michelle Smith, and well, Michelle answered the phone and was so great to talk to. She graciously agreed to allow me to use their grounds and porch for portrait sessions at any time. Wow! It's so fun to see how things fall into place so perfectly. So THIS year... I AM holding Holiday Mini Sessions. See details below or if you can't read teeny tiny type, click on the following link...
